Live Review: The Blue Dukes

The Blue Dukes are a trio of seasoned performers, and have been together since 2003. Ian and Kevin played together in Carson Taylor Band until 2001 and got back together again, adding Winston, when they formed the Blue Dukes.

Ian Ferguson on bass and vocals has been part of some of the most prominent bands in the past, Carson being just one. Ian is a talented singer/songwriter who brings his music to enthralled audiences and leaves them wanting for more.

Kevin Buckingham on vocals and guitar lends his great bluesy style to this fine band. He would have to be one of the most accomplished guitarists I have seen and heard for quite a while. He also played a part in Carson Taylor Band along with Ian Ferguson. These two band members have blended together musically over time to develop their wonderful music for the Blue Dukes.

Winston Galea the drummer in this three piece band also has a colorful past in the music scene, having played with Dutch Tilders and The Blues Club for several years as well as many other prominent bands, Winston has brought his vocals and drums to this band and completes it in a way that no other could.

I would recommend the Blue Dukes for any blues venue or festival, and although they are only a three piece band, they make you believe that there are at least seven members due to the huge sound they produce live.

In two words "Love ‘em".
